Photosynthesis does not produce carbon dioxide (CO2). It takes up carbon dioxide and water in presence of sunlight and chlorophyll to produce glucose (C6H12O6) and oxygen (O2).

6CO2(g) + 6H2O(l) C6H12O6(aq) + 6O2(g)

The reaction of respiration is just reverse of photosynthesis and carbon dioxide gas is released in that.

Moreover, the burning of fuels and combustion of wood also produces carbon dioxide gas as it involves reaction of carbon with oxygen as shown below.
