Solution

The correct option is C

Dullness

Explanation for the correct option:

(c) Dullness

In general, metals are not dull instead they are shiny. Because they contain free electrons that vibrate when they come in contact with light. When the electrons vibrate, they produce their own light. This is reflected to create a shiny look of the metal.

But metals become dull only when they are exposed to the air for a while, the oxygen present in the air slowly combines with the metal to form a metal oxide. It deposits in layers on the surface of the metal which results in the dullness of metals.

Explanation for the incorrect options:

(a) Electrical conduction

Metals conduct electricity because electrons can move relatively freely within the metal. Therefore, when an electric current passes through a metal, electrons carry the electric current and spread it throughout the metal. Electron mobility is the reason why metals conduct electricity.

(b) Sonorous in nature

Metals are sonorous. When struck, they produce a sound called a metallic sound or metallic clink.

(d) Ductility

The ability of a metal that can be drawn into a thin wire is called ductility. Ductility is a physical property of the metal related to its ability to hit with a fine hammer or pull into a wire without breaking. The degree of ductility results from metal bonds.

Hence, option (c) is correct
