There are two types of cell division- mitosis and meiosis. Mitosis is an equational division where a cell divides to form two daughter cells and each of them carries the same number of chromosomes as that of the parent cell. Meiosis is a reductional division where the cell divides to form four daughter cells and each of them carries half the number of chromosomes as that of the parent cell.
