$y = - x^{2} + 6 x + 1$

a < 0 $\Rightarrow$ graph is inverted cup shaped.

Also, maximum value occur at $x = \frac{- b}{2 a} = 3$

$D = b^{2} - 4 a c = 6^{2} - 4 (- 1) (1) = 36 + 4 = 40$ > 0

Graph cuts x-axis at 2 points

So, answer is D.
