White blood cells are white in colour due to absence of haemoglobin so are called as Leukocytes (Leuko-White).WBC can move with the help of pseudopodia and can reach any part of the body by coming out through capillaries via intercellular spaces of walls of blood vessels by a process called diapedesis. White blood cells form defense and immunity in the body, their average number per cubic mm in a human is around 6000- 9000. WBC are nucleated and nucleus of 3 to multilobed and cytoplasm may or may not have granules. Basing on which WBC are divided into 2 categories - Granulocytes and Agranulocytes. Neutrophils, basophils, andeosinophils are called granulocytes because they have granules in their cytoplasm.
