Solution

Answers:

(ii) K+,Ca2+,Sc3+,Cl and

(iii) P3,S2,Cl,K+

(i) Zn2+(302=28),Ca2+(202=18),Ga3+(313=28),Al3+(133=10)
These species hae different number of electrons and hence are not isoelectronic ions.
(ii) K+(191=18),Ca2+(202=18),Sc3+(213=18),Cl(17+1=18)
These are all isoelectronic ions since each one of them has 18 electrons.

(iii) P3(15+3=18),S2(16+2=18),Cl(17+1=18),K+(191=18)
These are all isoelectronic ions since each one of them has 18 electrons.

(iv) Ti4+(224=18),Ar = (18),Cr3+(243=21),V5+(235=18).
These have different number of electrons and hence are not isoelectronic ions.
