The two important events of diplotene stage are repulsion and terminalization. They are as follows-
1. In repulsion the homologous chromosomes starts to separate and uncoil as the homologous chromosomes starts repelling each other. The crossing over of non-sister chromatids takes place during this stage. The point at which the non-sister chromatids cross each other is known as chaismata.
II. The terminalization of chaismata occurs due to its progressive shifting towards the end.
