Transport of carbon dioxide is carried by haemoglobin in the form of carbaminohaemoglobin, the binding is affected when the partial pressure of carbon dioxide is more, therefore, haemoglobin (Hb) binds with it. In alveoli when the partial pressure of oxygen increases, Hb dissociates from carbon dioxide and binds with oxygen. Every 100ml of deoxygenated blood delivers approximately 4ml of carbon dioxide gas. While every 100 ml of oxygenated blood can deliver around 5 ml of oxygen to the tissues.
