A vascular bundle is a part of the transport system in vascular plants which is comprised of two tissues: xylem and phloem. These are responsible for transportation of food and water in plants. Apart from vascular bundle, epidermis , hypodermis, and pith are also present in dicot stem. Epidermis is the outermost layer of the stem which provides shape and protection to it.Cells in hypodermis region can perform photosynthesis, due to presence of chlorophyll in them. Pith is present in the centre of a young stem. It forms a hollow structure in the mature stem.
