Solution

The correct option is C Anode has negative polarity
Spontaneous redox reactions can be used to produce electricity
by separating the processes of oxidation (electron loss) and reduction (electron gain) and allowing them to occur in different physical locations of a system.

In a electrochemical cell, the process of oxidation and reduction takes place simultaneously within the system. The metal strip in the cell is known as electrode. These are electrical conductor used to make contact with a non-metallic part of a circuit. The reactive metals have tendency to go into the solution phase, when in contact with their ions or their salt solution will act as anode.

Charecteristics of anode:
1. Oxidation takes place at anode.
2. It acts as a source of electrons.
3. It has negative polarity.

Thus, statement (a), (b) and (c) are correct.
