Sir Syed Ahmad Khan wanted to transform the rigid and orthodox outlook of Muslims. He founded the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College at Aligarh in 1875 to impart western, scientific, rational, and progressive ideas. He kept it open for students of all religions.
