Chondrichthyes are fishes with cartilaginous endoskeleton and are cold blooded animals ( Poikilothermic- they are unable to regulate the body temperature).

They have a venous heart which is a two chambered heart with one atrium and one ventricle which has single circulation.

Respiration is with the help of gill slits (5-7 pairs) which are not covered by the operculum. Sexes are separate and males bear claspers. Examples are sharks (Carcharodon, Scoliodon) and rays (Torpedo, Trygon).
