Vaccines are made up of attenuated or dead pathogen that causes the disease.

Vaccines mimic live pathogens as they generate similar response to the response of the body when it is exposed to live pathogen.

When our body is exposed to a live pathogen, the first immune response is called primary response. The body then produces antibodies to fight against the disease. In this process the memory cells produced will remember the pathogen and produce antibodies during the second exposure to the same pathogen.
