Which of the following statements about Rayon is correct?
Artificial silk
Rayon is known as artificial silk and is manufactured from cellulose fibre. It was manufactured from a natural source - wood pulp - and thus was man-made or artificial but not synthetic. By the end of 19th century, scientists were able to develop a fibre having similar properties as that of silk. It was cheaper than silk and could be woven into fibres like silk. It could also be dyed in various colours thereby serving as a good substitute for natural silk.
