Statement 2: Aniline forms a salt with aluminum chloride (a Lewis acid) which is used as a catalyst.

Aniline is basic due to the lone pair of $e^{-}$e− on the NN atom. Whereas $AlC{l}_3$ is a Lewis acid as $Al$ has an empty orbital and $Cl$ is electron withdrawing group.

So an acid-base reaction occurs and we get a salt.

Both the statements are correct.
