Which of the following statements are correct with respect to pollen grains?
(i), (ii) & (iii)
Each microspore develops into four pollen grains which represent the male gametophytes in angiosperms. Pollen grains of different plants differ in shape, size and colour. However, most of the plants generally have spherical pollen grains. Pollen viability is a limited affair and even though the size and shape of the pollen is retained during fossilisation due to highly resistant sporopollenin the male gametes themselves are dead and hence will not viable.
