The University Education Commission was set up in 1948 under Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. To improve secondary education, it set up the Secondary Education Commission also known as the Mudaliar commission. This commission studied the curriculum, medium of instruction, teaching methodology etc. It also introduced the concept of Higher Secondary Education.
