There are different types of contraceptive methods like natural, physical, chemical and surgical
Surgical methods are also called sterilization. It is a method of contraception, that can be performed both on males and females. In the case of males, it is called vasectomy and in the case of females, it is called tubectomy.

Tubectomy is also called tubal ligation. In tubectomy, a small portion of the fallopian tube is removed or tied up through a small incision in the abdomen or through the vagina. The main principle behind this surgical contraception process is to block the fallopian tubes, to prevent the egg released by the ovary from reaching the uterus and to block the sperm from reaching the ovum. The process of surgery or invasion does not affect the natural formation of gametes/gametogenesis. It obstructs the transport of the gametes, not its production. One incision on the abdomen is made for each of the pair of fallopian tubes.
