Solution
The correct option is D Both b and c
ATP is adenosine triphosphate. It is formed of adenine (a purine), a ribose (5-carbon sugar) and a row of three phosphate groups attached to the ribose molecule. The complex formed by adenine and ribose is called adenosine. In ATP, the last two phosphate groups are attached by bonds of high transfer potential. They are also called energy rich bonds. The energy is stored in the bonds of the phosphate group. The last or terminal phosphate group can easily be broken or synthesized. During the metabolic processes, when the energy is required, the terminal phosphate bond is broken and energy is released. Due to the cleavage of the terminal phosphate bond, ATP converts into ADP (adenosine diphosphate). ADP can again be converted into AMP (adenosine monophosphate) by removal of phosphate group. ATP is the energy currency of all living cell. Thus, even the plant cells store energy in the form of ATP and is used for metabolic reactions that require energy. Thus we see how ATP plays a very special role in plants.
