Statement I: The mass of the atom is assumed to be uniformly distributed over the atom.
Statement II: The positive charge is assumed to be uniformly distributed over the atom.
Statement III: The electrons are uniformly distributed in the positively charged sphere.
Stamtent IV: The electrons attract each other to stabilise the atom.

Solution

The answer is (b).
Statements I and II are correct.
According to Thomson's model of the atom:
  • An atom consists of a sphere of positively charged with negatively charged electrons embedded in it. These negative and positive charges in an atom are equal in magnitude, due to which an atom is electrically neutral.
  • The mass of atom is uniformly distibuted throughout the atom.
