Solution

The correct option is B e only

The synaptic cleft is a gap between the pre- and postsynaptic membranes and is only 20 nm (0.02 μ) wide in case of electrical synapse. This is why the membranes of pre and postsynaptic neurons are in very close proximity in electrical synapse. Since in electrical synapse membranes are in close proximity, so electrical current can flow directly from one neuron to the other neuron.

Compared to chemical synapses, electrical synapses conduct nerve impulses faster so their transmission of impulse is very similar to impulse conduction along single axon. They are often found in neural systems that require the fastest possible response, such as defensive reflexes.

Most synapses are chemical which communicate using chemical messengers and not electrical as electrical synapse lack the versatility, flexibility, and capacity for signal modulation that we see in chemical synapses.

At electrical synapse, the transfer of impulse occurs by purely electrical means without involving any neurotransmitter.
So, the correct option is C.
