Vasa recta is a series of straight capillaries in the medulla. They lie parallel to the loop of Henle. The flow of glomerular filtrate is in the two limbs of Henle's loop in opposite directions which is from the descending limb to the ascending limb. Whereas, the blood flows through the two limbs of vasa recta in opposite directions from the ascending limb to the descending limb of Henle's loop.
