All GAs are acidic in nature. It was discovered by E.Kurosawa while studying the foolish seedling disease caused by a fungal pathogen Gibberella fujikuroi in 1926.
Gibberellins promote bolting in plants like beet, cabbages and plants of rosette habit. Bolting is a process during which there is internode elongation just prior to flowering. They also help in improving the shape of fruits i.e maintaining the length to diameter ratio of the fruits ( e.g apple).
