Nerve cells are some of the smallest cells.

Nerve cells comprise of a cell body called the cyton, long processes arising from it called axon and axon terminals. The cell bodies lie mostly in the brain and the spinal cord. Since the nerves need to reach out to all the parts of the body, the axons are very long. This helps nerve cells to convey stimuli from the receptors to the brain and the spinal cord and in turn, send motor signals to the effector organs.
