Which of the following statements is NOT correct about an electromagnet?
It is a permanent magnet.
An electromagnet is made by winding copper wire around a soft iron core and passing current through that wire. It behaves as a magnet as long as current is flowing through the wire. Hence an electromagnet is a temporary magnet. It is not a permanent magnet. The strength of an electromagnet can be varied by varying the current in the circuit. It is used in crane, t.v., electric bell, loudspeakers etc.
