In males, a pair of the testis is present in the scrotal sac (outside the abdomen). Testis performs dual functions as a primary sex organ as well as an endocrine gland(secrete hormones).
The Leydig cells also called as interstitial cells are present in the intertubular spaces in the testes. are found adjacent to the seminiferous tubules in the testicle. Leydig cells or interstitial cells produce testosterone or androgens in the presence of luteinizing hormone (LH).
