Sodium hydroxide

D

Methyl orange is a very common laboratory indicator used to distinguish between acids and bases through its colour change. It gives a pale pink colour in acidic medium and pale yellow colour in basic medium. Lactic acid and hydrochloric acid will give a pale pink colour when tested with methyl orange indicator whereas sodium hydroxide and caustic soda will give a pale yellow colour.
