Red litmus turns blue when it is placed in a basic solution.
Milk of magnesia, soap and limewater contains magnesium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide respectively which are bases. So they turn red litmus blue. Tomato contains citric acid. Acids does not have any effect on red litmus paper.
