2hexene and 1hexanol can be distinguished by addition of bromine water.
2hexene will decolourise the brown colour of bromine water as a molecule of bromine is added to the carbon carbon double bond.
This test is not given by 1-hexanol as it does not contains carbon carbon double bond.
