The value of modulus of elasticity found out by actual loading of concrete i.e the static modulus of elasticity does not truly represent the elastic behaviour of concrete due to the phenomenon of creep. The value of modulus of elasticity found out by the velocity of sound or frequency of sound is referred as dynamic modulus of elasticity. The value of dynamic modulus of elasticity computed from ultrasonic pulse velocity method is somewhat higher than those determined by static method because dynamic modulus is unaffected by creep.
