Transfusion tissue is a prominent feature. Leaf surface protected by a thick cuticle and sometimes by an additional waxy layer. It is a reduced xylem portion of vascular bundles. Adjoining the phloem cells, there are many cells of transfusion tissue which are more of less lignified and have bordered pits. They help in conduction of water and food.
