Which of the following tissue present in the nose helps in recognising smell?
The olfactory epithelium is a special kind of tissue present in the nasal cavity. It consists of receptor neurons present on the surface of non-motile cilia. The non-motile cilia extends to the motile cilia present in the airspace. It is covered with mucus which traps the incoming water soluble odorant molecules. The information about the molecules is then transmitted from the receptors to the olfactory bulb in the brain.
