Which of the following tools are not sufficient to draw perpendicular lines? [Assume that you have a well-sharpened pencil]
Ruler
With the help of a ruler, we can draw a roughly perpendicular line but we can’t be sure that the line will be exactly perpendicular.
With the help of a set square, we get lines that are perfectly perpendicular. When we use a protractor, we can mark 90 degrees and on joining that point with the vertex of the angle, we get a perpendicular line.
With the help of a compass, we can construct the perpendicular bisector to a line segment, or construct a 90 degrees angle. Either way, we get a perpendicular line.
