Solution

The correct option is D Battle of Buxar
The Battle of Plassey fought in 1757 CE was the first time that the British had fought in India. However, the Battle of Buxar was the decisive battle fought against the Indian forces. The British won the battle and led to the Treaty of Allahabad with Shah Alam II. The treaty effectively legalised the British East India Company's control over Bengal in entirety. After that, problems between the Marathas and the British began and resulted in three Anglo-Maratha wars.
