The correct option is D Nawab of Awadh fled, but eventually surrendered.
British got control of 24 Parganas in Bengal. Mir Jafar was made the Nawab of Bengal in place of Siraj-ud-Daula. Mir Jafar was only a puppet ruler, and the British tried to extract wealth from him. So, he was replaced again by Mir Jafar. Mir Qasim took shelter with the Nawab of Awadh and went against the British. This was the main reason behind the Battle of Buxar.
Meanwhile, the Mughal Emperor, Shah Alam, reached Awadh and the three marched their armies into the battle against the Company led by Hector Munro and Mir Jafar. But the combined forces of Awadh and Mughal Empire were no match against the Company’s army and therefore they lost. And the result was as follows:
-The Company got Diwani rights.
-Mir Qasim went into poverty.
-Shah Alam realigned himself with the British.
-Nawab of Awadh fled, but eventually surrendered.
