Two genes are said to be linked if they are located on the same chromosome. Linkage plays an important role in determining the nature of hybridization and selection. A cross between genotype AAbb and aaBB will produce four types of gametes, AB, Ab, aB and ab and AaBbAaBb progeny is produced in F $_{1}$ generation.
