The correct option is A Annual rings are not prominent in trees of temperate region
In temperate regions, the climatic conditions are not uniform through the year. Hence annual rings are formed prominently in tress of this region. In the spring season, cambium is very active, has wider vessels, is light coloured and has lower density. It is therefore called spring wood or early wood. Whereas in winter, the cambium is less active, has narrow vessels, is darker in colour and higher in density. It is called autumn wood or late wood.
The two kinds of woods appear as alternate concentric rings and are called annual rings. Annual rings give an estimate of the age of the tree.
