Solution

The correct option is C

Ultraviolet radiations

In the given options, Only UV radiation has a wavelength shorter than visible light.

The electromagnetic radiations of wavelength from 10 nm to 400 nm(shorter than that of visible light) are UV radiations. It is present in sunlight and is also produced by the electric arc and sparks.

One of the properties of UV radiations is that it will produce fluorescence on striking a zinc-sulphide screen. ie., in fluorescent tubes used for lighting, UV radiation is produced along with the blue light that is emitted when an electric current is passed through mercury vapour.
