Photosynthesis takes place in two major step light reaction and dark reaction. The light reaction takes place in the thylakoid which involves the production of NADPH and ATP which is further utilized for carbon dioxide fixation which mainly takes place in the stroma of the chloroplast. During the light reaction, photolysis takes place which is a process by which water molecules are split in the presence of water with the release of oxygen. Chlorophylls are synthesized in a biosynthetic pathway. Once, synthesized, proteins and pigments are assembled into the thylakoid membrane.
