Metals are electron donor (it forms cation) that means whenever they react with non-metal or any other ions they have the tendency to donate the electron and complete its noble gas configuration. Metal can't react with another metal because both have the tendency to donate the electron. Since both have same charge (positive charge) they repel each other and won't come together to form a compound. Hence, metal doesn't react with metal.
