Autotrophs are also called 'self-feeders,' and they are able to produce energy from sunlight and carbon dioxide and are therefore known as 'producers.' Heterotrophs are organisms that cannot manufacture their own food and instead obtains its food and energy by taking in, organic substances, usually, plant or animal matter. The only autotrophs that we know of are plants and some types of algae. All animals, protozoans, fungi, and most bacteria are heterotrophs.
