Which of these physiological processes does not require potassium?
Cell wall formation
Potassium is essential for opening and closing of stomata (K+ transport or K+ pump theory). Potassium along with sodium and chlorine maintains the solute concentration and anion-cation balance in cells thus maintaining the turgidity of cells. Potassium activates at least 60 different plant enzymes, including those needed for ATP synthesis. Cell wall formation requires calcium in the form of calcium pectate and not potassium.
