The theory of Lamarck was proposed by Jean Baptiste Lamarck. According to this theory it was believed that characters that are acquired by an organism gets inherited by the offspring. For eg: the long neck trait of Giraffe was the inheritance of acquired trait, wherein the long neck was obtained during the lifetime of an organism and this was being passed on to the next generation.
Disappearance of limbs in Snakes: Snakes have evolved from lizard-like ancestors which had two pairs of limbs.
Flightless birds: The ancestors of these birds were capable of flying, but due to some environmental factors, they had plenty of food and were well protected, and thus they wings fell into disuse. They gradually lost their ability to fly.
Webbed toes of aquatic birds: Aquatic birds like ducks have evolved from their terrestrial ancestors. This is an example that the organs which are used more are strengthened. These birds need to go to the water to get food and spread their toes when they strike the water. The skin between the toes was stretched as a result of this and, with time, large membranes are formed.
