By this time we knew that accelerating charges radiate energy and in Rutherford's model the electron was revolving around a nucleus.
Even uniform circular motion is a type of accelerated motion. I hope you remember that from circular motion chapter. Something called as centripetal acceleration.

So the electron should have continuously lost energy and finally fallen into the nucleus.
This process should take very less time and so nothing in the universe should have been stable.

The frequency of the radiated EM wave would depend on the frequency of the electron's revolution around the nucleus. Now since the electron will fall gradually into the nucleus so its frequency will keep on increasing gradually. So we predict the spectra of radiation that come out to be continuous in frequency but on the contrary we find that the observed spectra is discrete i.e. only specific frequencies were radiated out.
