Pneumococcus is not a lactic acid bacteria. They are not involved in the metabolism of Lactose. The other three bacteria are usually found in curd and increase the amount of lactic acid in the curd. In fact, the genera that comprise the Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) are at its core Lactobacillus, Leuconostoc, Pediococcus, Lactococcus, and Streptococcus.
