The maximum diversity in any area is seen in biodiversity hotspots. Biodiversity hotspots are areas with very high levels of species richness and a high degree of endemism. There are four biodiversity hotspots in India. They are as follows:-
Himalayas- This includes the entire Indian Himalayan region (including the areas in Pakistan, Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, China)
Indo-Burma: Includes the entire North-eastern India except Assam and Andaman Islands.
