Solution

The correct option is B

Tropical rain forest

Net primary productivity is the amount of oragnic matter synthesized by plants per unit area in unit time and excludes the energy utilized for respiration by producers. The most productive ecosystems are the tropical rain forests with a dense and evergreen vegetation. It is productive throughout the year and has an annual net primary productivity of 9000 kcal per square metre per year. Whereas, the tropical and temperate deciduous forests have trees that lose their leaves during the harsh season and they photosynthesize only during the remainder of the year and have lesser productivity. The evergreen temperate forest is sparser than the evergreen tropical forests and therefore is less productive.
