Apis indica is species of bee that is commonly found in the forests and plains of India. This species is very gentle in nature so can be domesticated easily. But the production of honey is very less i.e. is 6-7 pounds per honeycomb. The South India small tussore (Antheraea paphia) is a moth of the Saturniidae family found in India and Sri Lanka. Lac is the scarlet resinous secretion of a number of species of lac insects, of which the most commonly cultivated species is Kerria lacca. The silkworm is the larva or caterpillar of the domesticated silk moth, Bombyx mori. It is an economically important insect, being a primary producer of silk.
