Open in App
Solution

Depending upon the relative positions of the effort, load and fulcrum, levers are classified into 3 types.

  1. Class I levers
  2. Class II levers
  3. Class III levers

For Class I levers, the mechanical advantage can have any value either greater than 1, equal to 1 or less than 1.

MA of a lever =Effort armLoad arm

If Effort arm>Load arm, then MA>1

In claw hammer, effort arm is greater than load arm.

So, MA>1

Seesaw and physical balance - class I lever and MA=1

Scissors - class I lever and MA<1
