Solution

The correct option is C Electron rich species

There are two types of elimination reaction,
1. α Elimination reaction
2. β Elimination reaction

In α Elimination reaction, the leaving group and the proton are removed from the same α carbon which leads to formation of reactive carbene intermediate.
Since both leaving group and proton removes from single carbon it is also know as 1, 1-Elimination reaction.

Carbene intermediate is very reactive in nature because its electron valency is 6. Due to its electron valence, it is electron deficient and more reactive intermediate. Thus, option (c) is incorrect.

In carbene, carbon has only two covalent bond. Hence, it is divalent.
